Divine services are a bit more than an hour long. Each service follows an order of Service from the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod’s most recent hymnal,Lutheran Service Book. This means that, among other features, each service includes a number of traditional hymns, Confession and Absolution, chanting, readings from the Bible, a sermon based on the Word of God. Also, the Lord’s Supper is offered every Sunday.
Can I take communion? While the Lord’s Supper is offered every Sunday, as a confessional Luthern congregation, we share in the beliefs and practices of the 6,151 member congregations of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS). The Sacrament of the Altar is given to members of Immanuel and those who are in agreement with the whole doctrine of the LCMS. If you have any questions, please speak to our Pastor before the service.
Music is an important part of our service, as such our music is diverse and superbly prepared. You can expect to hear everything from chanting to hymns and texts written less than 5 years ago. Our church musician is well trained and you will hear only the best.
You do not have to worry about looking your “Sunday Best” when you come. People dress in all kinds of different ways, from casual to formal. Know that if you come, you will not feel out of place. The Lord, as well as the members of Immanuel, are more concerned with you attending the Divine Service than if you have stylish clothes.
Children of all ages are welcome. While we have an unstaffed nursery if needed, please feel free to have your children with you in church! Our members have all heard crying babies before and can handle it if yours become loud. Children need to hear the Gospel, too! To provide you with a bit of assistance, we have a children's worship bags, children’s Bibles, and children’s bulletins available just outside the entrance to the sanctuary. After service is over, we do offer Sunday school for them as well.
There are many ways for those of all ages to become involved at Immanuel. From choirs, through Sunday School, youth as well as adult Bible studies, and serving on boards and committees. There is always something going on and we would love to have you be a part of it!
Parking is available in the lot opposite Pearl Street from the Church. There are also a few spots to the East of the Church building. Two-three handicapped spots are also available behind the Church. Turn left on Grand St. and pull behind the Church building. An elevator is available just inside the main entrance to take you up to the sanctuary level.
